This is your first post where we invite you to introduce yourself. If you’re logged in to WordPress, just go to administration view and edit this post. You don’t have to present an official CV, just say whatever you would like your peers to know about you. Where are you from? How did you find out about the project and why have you enrolled in the EduHack online course? Would you like to participate an EduHackathon in the future? Are you interested at collaboration with other learners and/or joining the EduHack Network with the intention of running your local EduHack course or EduHackathons for academics or teachers in your university/organisation?
In order to customise your blog and personal introduction, first we suggest that you change the site’s default “EduHack Blog Template” title to something personal, like “YourName’s EduHack Blog”. Here are the steps to follow:
- If you haven’t done so already, login at http://username.eduhack.eu/wp-admin/ with your credentials you received by email after registering your blog site.
You will now see your blog with a black editing options bar on top of it. - Next, click on the “Customize” button on the top of the page.

- Here you will be able to change your site’s name by navigating the “Site Identity” option:

Don’t forget to press the blue “Publish” button on the top! - If you’d like to change your Home page title from “Welcome to my EduHack Blog” to something more personal, go back to your blog site and click the “Edit Frontpage” button on the top.

Click on the “Welcome to my EduHack Blog” Speacial Heading content box
and simply change the wording as you like
then press “Save” on the bottom, then “Update” in the top right corner. - To edit your introduction, go to the “Posts” section of the Dashboard and click on the “Hello, my name is …” item.
There you just click on the content and start editing as if you would in Word or Google Docs. Remember to update the post by clicking on the blue “Update” button in the top right corner once you finished editing. - Would you like the first couple of sentences of your bio appear on the Home page? Select the text you would like to use as an lead and copy it into the “Excerpt” box, that you can find on the right hand side pane:
You can do the same with all your posts if you would like to give a little teaser to your readers before they click on the “Read more” button. - If you made a mistake and you would like to restore an earlier version of this (or any other) post, just click on the revisions button on the right hand pane and select the older version you would like to activate.

- Now let’s change your profile picture that is added to your post as a “Featured Image”.
By clicking on the “Replace Image”, you’ll be taken to the “Media Library”, where you can upload pictures from your computer and insert them to your post.

Be mindful when you’re uploading images and optimize their size, as your space allowance is limited.
Your short bio will be automatically displayed on the EduHack Platform, as long as you make sure that you tick the “People” box in the list of categories on the right hand side of the WordPress content editing box.

You notice that there are other categories set up by default. When you create new blog posts, as you’re progressing through the online course units, you will want to use these categories to sort the posts on your own blog by the areas of the course, i.e. Digital Resources, Teaching, Assessment and Empowering Learners. The 4 default columns under your introduction will automatically display your course related posts, but only if you remember to tick the categories of the main course areas.

The other important purpose of the post categories is to make your posts searchable on the EduHack Platform, that is the aggregator of a growing number of contents, so please remember to use them. If you would like to add other (optional) tags that have special relevance to your post, enter them in the “Tags” box displayed right underneath the “Categories” box.
If you’re familiar with WordPress, or confident enough to experiment, you’re welcome to experiment with the blog layout, your pages and their content elements, as well as the overall theme and settings, but we suggest you keep it transparent and clean.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact the EduHack team, we are here to help you. Thank you for engaging with EduHack and enjoy blogging!
